I led the fight to demerge Hampstead.
Now we have a NEW chance for a better Hampstead

The following are only some of the issues that I will address. After 27 years of the old administration, it's time for a new team with fresh ideas to find better, smarter ways to run the town. I will lead that team with the same energy, determination and vision that I used to get our town back.

The Issues What I Will Do
Hold the Line on Taxes I will seek to 1) Establish sound spending priorities and good budget management, while 2) exploring cost sharing strategies with CSL and Montreal West. I hope to leverage the strong relationships that I have developed through the demerger battle, with the future leaders of these towns.
Spending Priorities I will survey our residents regularly, so our spending will be for YOUR priorities.
I will work with our Public Works management to identify our most pressing needs and to find efficiencies.
Our infrastructure (roads, sewers) has been allowed to deteriorate over the last several years and we must spend the funds now to avoid spending much more in the future.
Improve Relations with our Employees I will use my experience in Human Resources, Psychology and consulting to build employee morale, with modern management practices. I hope this approach will improve the town's relationship with our workforce, which was plagued by strikes, work to rule campaigns, and numerous labor grievances, under the previous Hampstead administration.
Address the Interests of our Growing Population of Young Families I will explore the needs of our young families, and work to ensure that services, programs and facilities address the needs of our youngest residents, our children. Specifically, improving the camp program for the youngest children will be a priority. Parks will be cleaned up and better maintained, etc.
Crack Down on Traffic Violations I will insist on better traffic enforcement by the police and I will use Public Security to help identify trouble spots.
Lobby for Changes to the Agglomeration Council Over $10,000,000 of our tax dollars will go to this undemocratic body. I will work with the Mayors of the other demerged towns to persuade the Quebec government to make changes.
"The most constructive proposal I've heard…comes from businessman William Steinberg."

Henry Aubin column in the Montreal Gazette, Sept. 28,04.

On November 6, vote STEINBERG for Mayor
